Want to make your house smell delicious? Need decorations for your tree?
Make a batch of my Cinnamon Apple Ornaments. These are not edible, but they smell wonderful and the aroma lasts for a few months. They can decorate your holiday tree, your wreath, or you can put them on top of packages.
Here's the recipe:
3/4 cup cinnamon
1 tablespoon ground allspice
2 tablespoons ground cloves
1 tablespoon ground nutmeg
Add:
1 cup applesauce
Pour in 1 1/2 tablespoons white glue
Mix well until the mixture is stiff.
Between two sheets of waxed paper, roll out the dough to a 1/4-inch thickness. Use a cookie cutter to cut out the ornaments. Using a drinking straw, poke a hole in each one for hanging. Allow several days to dry at room temperature. When dry, insert a ribbon in the hole in each ornament.
It doesn't look very appetizing--and it isn't.
Cutting the shapes with cookier cutters is easy.
Use a drinking straw to make a hole. Later, when the ornament is dry put a ribbon through the hole for hanging.
You can use a cookie stamp, too. :^)

WOW. Awesome. Did you get this recipe from somewhere so did you make it up?
Cynthia:
I found the recipe a long, long time ago. It was so long ago that I don't remember the source. However, there are plenty of similar recipes online, though I could not find one exactly like mine. Just search for Cinnamon Apple Ornaments and you'll see what I mean.:^)
Thanks. I am going to try this. I will google it also. Thanks!
Love the smell of apples and cinnamon so I'm going to try this. Thanks for the recipe
Cynthia and Barbara,
You're welcome. :^)
If you're feeling ambitious you can decorate the ornaments.
But I've always simply enjoyed sniffing them.
This is AWESOME! I can make these to give to family over thanksgiving...wow, thanks so much for this!
How fun! Those looks awesome, will maybe have to get crafty with then over the thanksgiving break!
I am definitely making these this year! How cool. I have a cookie stamp and always wondered what to do with it, in terms of making things special.
I've made these with the kids, and with my Girl Scouts.
We've also used puffy fabric paint to decorate the gingerbread men, so it looks like royal icing. And still smells so good ;-)
KatieO,
Puffy fabric paint would be great! I think I'll go get some. :^)
Cyclops Cinnamon Apple Ornaments!
Mark:
Yes, they do look like cyclops. LOL!
